PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY:
Jeremiah Stafford was born and raised in St Joseph and the greater metropolitan area of Kansas City, MO. The son of Larry Stafford, a factory worker, and Debra Stafford, a custodian/house cleaner, Jeremiah sought through intelligence and imagination to expand beyond his working class roots. Acknowledged as intelligent and headstrong he longed to create a better world.
At the age of 18 Jeremiah relocated to Los Angeles, CA after earning a full scholarship to the University of Southern California and being accepted into the university's prestigious School of Cinema-Television. Although focused on film Jeremiah took interests in an assortment of academic fields dabbling in a variety of Sciences and Arts. Jeremiah graduated from USC with a B.A. in Cinema-Television and a B.S. in Business -Finance and Marketing.
While a student at USC, Jeremiah continued his dedication to creating a better world by becoming a founding cabinet member of a tutoring/mentoring project focused on helping Los Angeles inner-city high school students receive a better education and become eligible to achieve scholarships at top, otherwise unaffordable universities. The mentoring program gained national recognition and acclaim as it was featured in several magazines and on the CBS news series “48HRS”. Jeremiah continued these efforts years later through work committed with the Los Angeles Children’s Guidance Clinic.
During Jeremiah’s senior year of college he was selected as one of 8 accomplished university students to be the subject of a video series studying the life, philosophies and viewpoints of 8 college students hand picked as future leaders.
PROFESSIONAL CAREER:
Jeremiah's first major breakthrough in the entertainment industry began while he was still a student at USC. At the age of 19 he co-created and began producing the award winning sketch comedy television series “Surfing Channels”. For the next few years Jeremiah served as the head writer and director of this ground breaking weekly series.
Following college Jeremiah’s education in film/television continued as he worked on the set and the behind the scenes of such motion pictures such as Michael Mann’s “Collateral” staring Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox, “American Dreams” staring a huge cast including Hugh Grant, Mandy Moore and William Defoe, and Barry Levinson’s “What Just Happened” starring Robert DeNiro, Sean Penn, and Bruce Willis, as well on the set of several television series including NBC’s “Scrubs”.
In the past couple of years Jeremiah has balanced his time gaining experience in nearly every aspect of the entertainment industry, working in a variety of rolls, on numerous film and television projects. One of his most recent writing projects entitled “the Darkside” is a collaboration with international award winning Spanish director Jose Corral (El Desvan) and is a part live action, part CGI animation thriller filmed entirely in the country of Argentina with post-production occurring in both the countries of Spain and the United States.
As the founder of ComPlex Films and Entertainment this young filmmaker is continuing his venture into writing/directing feature length films and television.
